So I'm staying at Camp Leatherneck most of the time now. And its an upgrade in living conditions for the most part. One of the better things is instead of living in a tent, I get to live in a building. I think they call them "cans" over here. It's a 6 man room with lockers to put your stuff in. The shower and bathrooms are a short walk away.
In some transient tents, the lights stay on all the time and people are coming in a 0200 or 0300 from flights, and it gets noisy sometimes. But room I'm staying at is awesome. The lights usually never on. It seems that someone is always sleeping because everybody have different schedule's and shifts. And it's quiet cause my roommates are 30+.
So it's pretty rare that we all in the room at the same time. There is a least 2 people on night shift, and schedules vary with 8-14 hr work days and people travel in and out of bases for work. I've been in the room for about 3 months when I'm not traveling. Last night I finally met everyone in the room . I came back from the gym around 9 pm and found everybody just hanging out, talking about their ex-wives. In a room of 6 people, there was total of 7 divorces. Keeping in mind that I have never married or divorced, that is a pretty crazy stat right there. I mean what are the odds? Apparently being an expat is no good for long distance relationships...
