Fob Shank/Ski Resort

Been re-posting links from Reddit and other sites lately. It's time for an original post. So I have been in Fob Shank for about a little over a month now. This Fob (forward operating base) is surrounded by mountains. In every direction I turn I can see Mountains covered in snow. I guess that means I'm in a valley.

During the day time, at some of the guard towers or at the ECP (entry control point), you can see the 3 villages surrounding the base. Unfortunately not all the villages are friendly and a few are harboring enemies. Pretty soon after the snow melts, the spring offensive will start.

Before I took this job, I actually accepted another offer to work at a ski resort up in Tahoe. I was pretty excited for that job. Looking forward to the snow, cabins and working with foreign exchange students for the season.

Well this job comes close enough. There's the mountains with plenty of snow. Tents, containers and plywood office buildings instead of cabins. And TCN(third word nationals) from India and eastern Europe instead of foreign exchange students. It actually seems like a snow resort nestled under some mountains, until you see soldiers with M16s and the Afghan Army with their AKs.

TL;DR
Afghanistan would be nice for some ski resorts if there wasn't a war going on
